The Position

We are looking for an Assistant Systems Administrator to join our growing team of IT professionals to maintain and manage the daily operations of our servers, network , and network devices.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Manage the daily operations related to VMWare virtualized environments and Window servers.
  • Monitor the physical and virtual systems along with routine maintenance of systems. Maintain systems and perform troubleshooting to provide a high availability of services. Physical systems include workstations, printers, plotters, scanners, print servers, routers, switches, wiring and connections.
  • Responsible for Windows servers that include, but are not limited to the following: Windows Server 2012/2016/2019 operating systems, application services, file server, web services such as IIS, DFS, Windows updates and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain hardware systems and storage arrays.
  • Configure and troubleshoot issues related to hardware and driver components as necessary.
  • Routine maintenance and the build of additional physical and virtual hosts.
  • Perform and verify daily data back-ups.
  • Insure proper licensing of all software.
  • Insure Virus Protection.
  • Review and monitor AlienVault logs for unusual activities or hacking attempts.
  • Maintain and configure MFA.
  • Maintain and configure EDR.
  • Setup and maintain field offices as necessary.
  • Develop thorough documentation and procedures to maintain server infrastructure.
  • Assist in development of effective training materials and assets.
  • Maintain Department and Project related budgets.
  • Maintain a log and map of all assets.

Location: Itasca, IL. 

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications

  • Associates degree in Computer Science along with a minimum of 2 plus years of experience with virtual machines such as VMWare and Windows server operating systems is required.
  • Knowledgeable of Veeam backup systems along with cloud services.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and DNS Services is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Cisco switches, routers and firewalls is preferred.
  • Exposure to Mitel VOIP systems / Microsoft Teams VOIP systems a plus.
  • Strong troubleshooting techniques and ability to solve problems quickly.
  • Strong ability and desire to learn and become effective with new technologies and applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate clearly.
  • Strong ability to build positive partnerships and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work both independently and with others on project teams.
  • Ability to work precisely with attention to detail.
