The Position

We are seeking qualified candidates to join our team of engineers providing environmental design and study services to State, County and Municipal clients in the 6-county Chicagoland area. Day-to-day responsibilities for transportation improvements located at various project sites include:

  • Become proficient in hydrologic and hydraulic software including HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and SWMM.
  • Become proficient in Microstation, GeoPak and other applicable engineering software packages.
  • Gain knowledge of IDOT Drainage Design Criteria, Location Drainage Studies, Hydraulic Reports, policies and procedures. Learn other agency drainage design criteria and standards on an as-needed basis.
  • Prepare plans, cost estimates, exhibits and reports for projects under the direction of Project Manager or more experienced engineer.
  • Become familiar with the requirements of Water Resource Engineering as they relate to the process of developing plans, special provisions, estimates, bid documents and environmental permit applications for projects.
  • Acquire an understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
  • Strive to understand and work within project schedules and budgets.
  • Maintain knowledge of latest news, trends, standards, and other concepts in the field of water resource engineering through attendance at conferences, participation in professional societies, and reviewing trade publications.
  • Gain knowledge of and adhere to all company policies as stated in the current Employee Manual.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • A Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 0-3 years of experience in roadway design or construction, Intern or co-op experience in the transportation field is desirable.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering License or the ability to obtain within one year.
  • An understanding of Bentley Microstation and other applicable engineering software is desirable.
  • The preferred candidate will gain knowledge of IDOT Design Criteria, policies, and procedures as well as learn other agency design criteria and standards on an as-needed basis.
  • The ability to work as part of a team and independently to effectively manage time and complete a daily list of projects.
