Civiltech celebrated its 37th Anniversary with our annual Walk and Talk. As part of our annual event, staff walk 2 miles as a team to raise money for charity. The route circles the beautiful lakes at the Hamilton Lakes Business Park in Itasca, home of Civiltech’s corporate headquarters.
The walk ends with an after-party at the Church Street Brewing Company’s HopGarten, also located in the Business Park. This year, the after-party featured the Church Street Brewing’s selections of beers and Bavarian Pretzels from Wurst Kitchen in Aurora.

This year, as part of Civiltech’s efforts to “Inspire Future Engineers,” Civiltech donated $2000 raised from The Walk and Talk to Project H.O.O.D. Project H.O.O.D. (Helping Others Obtain Destiny) is an non-profit organization committed to providing educational resources and tutoring to students, offering mentorship programs, engaging in community development, and forging partnerships with like-minded organizations, all with the goal of helping others obtain their destinies and building a brighter future for Chicago’s Underserved communities. The first Walk and Talk was held in 2023 when Civiltech celebrated its 35th anniversary with the 35 Signs of Kindness yearlong initiative. The Walk and Talk helped culminate the years’ effort of supporting charitable organizations with volunteer activities and fundraising both as a company and individually.

Every year, staff nominate organizations to receive the Walk and Talk proceeds, then vote for the final recipients. In 2023, proceeds from the Walk and Talk were split 3 ways between Ronald McDonald House, Habitat for Humanity – Northern Fox Valley Chapter, and PAWS Chicago. In 2024, Civiltech donated the funds to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies.
With another fun Walk and Talk in the books, we look forward to next year’s event and the chance to help another non-profit organization.
