Civiltech is honored to be named the ISPE 2024 Best Place to Work in the Large Firm Category. We were especially thrilled to win this award as we also received it in 2021. Amanda Kleinwachter, P.E., Director of Civiltech’s Milwaukee Office, nominated the firm for this award in the spring of 2024, and the nomination was supported by an anonymous survey of our staff. We are grateful to Amanda for the nomination and to our staff for the positive input resulting in Civiltech receiving this recognition.
Amanda has been an engineer with Civiltech for over nine years and has led our Wisconsin-based work for the last four years. She manages a demanding professional schedule and fast-paced project load and is active in professional associations, all while raising three small daughters, the youngest of which was born in June of this year. When asked why she chose to nominate Civiltech for Best Place to Work, she responded that in addition to exciting project work and career opportunities, Civiltech offers employees flexibility and support that allows them to balance the pursuit of their professional passions with raising their families and nurturing personal interest. This company-supported work-life balance was the inspiration behind the nomination.
Amanda shared that Civiltech has given her extensive opportunities to shape her career. She is grateful for the responsibilities she has been given over the years as well as the opportunities to lead interesting projects and participate in different types of engineering. Her gratitude extends to the confidence that Civiltech understands life’s demands and staff’s personal needs. Amanda states that we dedicate a large part of our lives to our careers, and at Civiltech that dedication is valued and rewarded. Also, she feels Civiltech’s employee focus helps her be a better manager as she can provide that flexibility to her team as well.
Amanda summed up her nomination of Civiltech by stating that when you’re respected in your professional and personal life, you’re enthusiastic to give back to your employer. And it all ultimately boils down to serving your clients. Happy employees provide high quality work and develop deeper relationships with their clients.
In July, with Amanda on maternity leave, Chris Wolff, P.E., Director of Civiltech’s Chicago Office, attended the NSPE-IL 2024 Annual Conference Installation & Awards Luncheon and accepted the award on behalf of the firm. In his acceptance remarks, he thanked ISPE for the recognition of the work Civiltech has put into creating an employee-focused company culture that rewards hard work and provides opportunity for advancement, while emphasizing the importance of work-life balance.
