Serving as a Village’s Engineering Department
Civiltech has been serving as the in-house engineering team for the Village of Oak Brook since 2023. As part of this ongoing, the team is providing a wide array of services in support of the Village’s Public Works department and Capital Improvement planning.
Scoping Projects and Preparing RFPs
A primary task under this contract is the scoping and preparation of RFPs for projects that are part of the Village’s Capital Improvement program. This work includes identifying projects, site visits, writing the RFP, collecting responses, reviewing responses to ensure they have met the requirement of the RFP, and assisting with consultant selection. Once a consultant is selected, Civiltech also writes the agenda for the Village Board to review and award the contract.
Managing an Array of Project Types
Civiltech facilitates and manages the projects including attending the kick off meeting, establishing and monitoring capital planning budgets, and working to keep the project on schedule. Proposals and resulting projects that Civiltech has facilitated include a bike route master plan, Phase I road and bridge work, Phase II road improvement design, water main design and construction administration, a pavement management plan, parking lot design and construction, and consultation for water and storm water modeling.
Providing Hands-On Engineering
Civiltech also provides hands-on in-house engineering tasks such as helping develop the annual budget and multi-year capital improvement planning. The Civiltech team helps the Village interpret IDOT circular letters determining what information pertains to the Village and facilitates meetings with IDOT when needed. Other services include providing Structural Engineering to perform the Village’s NBIS bridge inspections, managing small projects resulting from resident’s concerns, and assistance with Grant Writing. In this dynamic role, Civiltech staff meet weekly with the Village Manager and Development Services staff.
